Cabin Update
The Stalnaker Log Cabin has been opened to visitors this season. Furnished with donated items that are period appropriate to the era of the log structure, the cabin is a pleasant step back in time to the life of the early settlers of Randolph County and West Virginia. A corner cabinet, cider press, pie safe and numerous pieces of crockery help fill the first floor. A heritage barn loom, spinning wheel and traditional rope beds and handmade coverlets supply the second story with furnishings of eras gone by. Interpretation of the life of the Stalnaker family is in the process of being created to tell the story of this family’s role in the Valley.Cabin Restoration Project Chair, Ed Stalnaker hopes to finish the stairway this year so that furniture can be moved to the second floor.  He estimates the costs to finish the inside will be about $4000.  He indicated that the Randolph County Historical Society has been able to help with the cabin expenses in the past, but they are no longer able to do so.  They do, however, pay the insurance. For more information about the cabin restoration project select: Stalnaker Log Cabin Project. Our gratitude goes to Ed Stalnaker who has been committed to overseeing every aspect of the cabin move and restoration that began in 1995. A special thank you to Sandy and Dan Wilson for their generous donations and assistance in obtaining, delivering and arranging many wonderful period pieces for the interior of the cabin.

Anyone wishing to donate to the cabin fund or help with a financial donation contact Ed Stalnaker or Don Rice.
