"A CHRONOLOGY OF THE STALNAKER FAMILY IN AMERICA"

A Chronology of the Stalnaker Family in America was researched and compiled by Cecil E. Stalnaker and published in 1982. The book is a wealth of information, starting with the Steinacker coat of arms dating back to 1606 from Quedlinburg, Germany. The book continues with the early settlers in Virginia and West Virginia. It describes in detail about Captain Samuel Stalnaker who was known to be living in southwest Virginia in 1746. Captain Stalnaker was a colorful character whose many adventures included, being held captive for almost a year by the Shawnee Indians and serving as a guide In the French and Indian War under Col. Washington. The book lists thousands of Samuel Stalnaker descendants. Please scroll down to find out information on how to make corrections or additions for the next edition.

Stalnaker History Book Revisions
The Association continues to gather data to update THE CHRONOLOGY OF THE STALNAKER FAMILY.  We need your input!  We are asking each of you to check the information as it pertains to YOUR line in the book and send us corrections or additions. Select REVISION FORM to download.

(1) Submit Family Group Sheets with the correct information.  If you do not have access to these, please contact Joy Stalnaker, 213 Linger Run Road, Horner, WV 26372 or download them from the internet at
http://www.ancestry.com/save/charts/famgrec.pdf.  Submit separate sheets for each family group (household) in your family line as far back and as widely spread (married siblings, cousins, etc.) as you can.  Mail these to Joy at the same address.

(2) If you are "into" genealogy and have your data in a genealogy program such as Family Tree Maker or Brother's Keeper, create a gedcom of your Stalnaker lines and either e-mail to joy@hackerscreek.com or put the gedcom on a disk and mail to her by regular postal mail.  If you are unsure how to handle this, you may call her at 304-452-8495.

However, if you prefer, you may send a letter with the information about each family group (household) in your line.  Kinds of information needed:  full name including maiden name for wives, birthdate, birthplace, marriage date, marriage place, death date, death place, where buried, main life occupation, where they lived most of their lives, religious affiliation if known, anything interesting about the person or persons.
